The ebony from Madagascar (Diospyros perrieri) is one of the finest and now-a-days one of the rarest as well. It is known by its dark chocolate color, great taptone and sustain, probably the most resonant ebony. It is the easiest to work and the stiffest and heaviest at the same time. The awesome aesthetics and the unique acoustic properties make it the favorite for most luthiers, including ourselves.
