African ebony (Diospyros crassiflora) also known as Gaboon or Cameroon ebony has been used widely in many sorts of musical instruments mostly in fingerboards. It is a first choice for many luthiers despite now-a-days in getting scarce and expensive. The dark color and excellent acoustic properties mostly for fingerboards make it a first choice for most luthiers.
